About RiverLine Quartet

RiverLine card.jpg
RiverLine quartet began in July 2011 with Kevin Gregan singing lead;
Norm Rohn, tenor;
Jim Rohn, baritone and Steve Zellers singing bass. We put the quartet together focusing on presenting a theatrical approach to singing barbershop music, emphasizing songs from the 1930's-40's.

In 2014, we won the silver medal for the Atlantic Division barbershop contest.

Jim decided to part ways in 2015, and the quartet brought in Sean Clancy (a young, full-voiced tenor) to sing the high part and Norm graciously descended the scale to fill the baritone role. Sean only came on board to fill in for one contest, but then stayed for a couple more. When Sean moved on, we were not sure if we were going to continue or not...so Norm left us to sing with his brother.

In 2016, we filled our two open slots with David Epstein in the tenor role and Marty Israel in the baritone position. Marty brought with him arranging skills, so we started swapping out repertoire to feature his arrangements. We kept the theatrical approach but broadened our music to cover music of many more eras.

Then, Kevin departed to sing in the great quartet in the sky, and we were again in a state of flux. We contacted Guy Kirk, who sang baritone with Steve in Synergy quartet for many years, to see if he was interested in singing lead. He graciously agreed, and the current version was born. Well, at our ages, perhaps started is a better term...as now we were eligible to compete as a seniors quartet. In 2018, we were the second highest placing seniors quartet in the Mid-Atlantic District.
During the summer of 2019, we performed as the school board quartet in The Music Man at The Ritz Theatre Company in Oaklyn, NJ.

Due to Covid concerns we basically shut down until 2022. Among other things, we sang at the Medford 4th of July event and then in 2023 we went back into competing. We can now say that we are the 2023 District Sr Quartet Champs for the Mid Atlantic District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
